Dr. Charlotte LoppieDr. Charlotte Loppie is a Professor in the School of Public Health and Social Policy, Faculty of Human and Social Development, University of Victoria, Director of the Centre for Indigenous Research and Community-Led Engagement (CIRCLE), Lead of the Aboriginal Health Research Network Secretariat, and Editor of the International Journal of Indigenous Health. Her presentation will explore Indigenous experiences of everyday racism.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Adam Barker

Dr. Adam BakerDr. Adam Barker is a Settler Canadian from Hamilton, Ontario, in the territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishiinabe people. He holds a Master in Indigenous Governance from the University of Victoria, and a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Leicester (UK). His research focus is on social change, focused on movements for decolonization in Canada through the lens of settler colonialism. In 2015 he co-authored the book, Settler: Identity and Colonialism in 21st Century Canada. Adam will share perspectives on settler colonialism and how it affects contemporary relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous collectives.
